Salinas Police Officers were dispatched North Main Street and Lamar Street regarding a report of a hit and run vehicle collision, involving two pedestrians. A 41-year-old mother and her 6-year-old daughter were crossing the intersection within the crosswalk. The suspect vehicle, a black Nissan passenger car (with probable windshield damage) and was traveling southbound on North Main Street last seen turning westbound on Boronda Road toward US 101. The force of the collision propelled both pedestrians over 70 feet. The 6 year old was flown to Valley Medical Center in San Jose with non-life threatening injuries. The mother was transported to Natividad Medical Center with extremely critical injuries. Traffic was diverted to allow officers to conduct the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
