Salinas Police Officers were dispatched to a vehicle collision with injury involving an infant at the intersection.  Raphael Arriaga, 44, was driving his Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on North Main Street approaching a red signal light at Boronda Road.  The victim vehicle, a smaller style Honda SUV, was southbound North Main Street at Boronda Road turning eastbound on a green signal light.  Arriaga did not stop for the red light and entered the intersection, colliding with the Honda.  The area of impact on the Honda was the right rear where a 6 month old infant was secured in his car seat.  The infant was life flighted to a San Jose area hospital and is currently in the ICU in extremely critical condition.  The mother of the infant, who was seated in the right front passenger seat, was injured and transported to Natividad Medical Center.  Arriaga was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and will be booked into the Monterey County Jail with several charges.  The investigation is continuing.
