Late evening, March 23, the Salinas Police Department was notified that one of our non-sworn civilian employees has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee believes the virus was contracted as a result of travel out of state. The employee self-isolated prior to the diagnosis.
Employees who had close contact with the affected employee are quarantined and/or isolated, as recommended.
The City of Salinas is coordinating with the Monterey County Public Health Department.
All CDC prescribed measures, recommendations and protocols regarding an individual who tests positive have been implemented.
The Salinas Police Department's patrol operations have not been impacted and we continue to provide policing services to the community.
