Incident: Burglary with a shot fired by homeowner

Officers received a call of a burglary in progress with a shot fired. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim, a 78 year old male. He said that he was sleeping in his bed when he heard the garage door to his house being kicked in. He immediately reached for a revolver that he keeps next to his bed. As he sat up in his bed, he saw a flashlight shine into his room through the doorway. Fearing for his life, he fired one round at the flashlight. He then heard someone running from his house. The round went into the ceiling of the hallway just ouside of his bedroom and does not appear to have struck the suspect. Another witness saw two males in the area running very fast towards St. Edwards St. An area check was made with negative results.
