Incident: Attempted Homicide is Updated to City's 5th Homicide

On Friday, May 17 at approximately 4:30 PM officers contacted a victim of a stabbing in a vehicle driving recklessly. It was learned the vehicle was driving to the hospital with the victim.The fourteen year old was suffering from a serious stab wound to the neck and was transported to Natividad Medical Center in serious condition. Over the past few days the victim's condition deteriorated and he was subsequently placed on life support.
Yesterday, the victim was taken off life support and this case is now being investigated as the city's fifth homicide. The fourteen year old victim has been identified as Ricardo Ruiz of Salinas.
The original investigation revealed Ruiz and several friends where walking in the area of N. Madeira and E. Alisal St. when they were confronted by two females who questioned Ruiz' groups gang affiliation and then one of them proceeded to stab Ruiz in the neck. A Good Samaritan was driving the victim to the hospital when they were contacted by police.
