Location: 250 N. Madeira Ave. - Cesar Chavez Park
A 17 year-old victtim was sitting on a bench at Chavez Park with a friend when he was approached by three male youths. One of the subjects asked the victim about possible gang affiliation, to which he replied he was not involved in gangs. The subject then brandished a knife and robbed the victim of his cell phone and iPod. The suspects fled the area on foot. Officers making an area check for the suspects located Kevin Medina (19), and two male juveniles, ages 15 and 14 as they walked on Terrace St. near N. Madeira Ave. All three were positively identified and taken into custody. It was learned the victim was targeted because the suspects believed he was a rival gang member. All three suspects are believed to be gang members and were booked for the robbery and a host of other charges, such as conspiracy, possession of marijuana, and gang enhancements. The knife used in the robbery and victim's property were recovered.
