Location: Central Park and 300 block of Central Avenue

Officer Oscar Dydasco was in the area of Central Park, 420 Central Avenue, when he observed two subjects walking westbound through the park toward Villa Street.  He recognized one as Jacob Salinas, 18.  Salinas was wanted for an armed carjacking that occurred on 10/24/15 in the area of Sanborn and McGowan.  Salinas is known to possess a handgun.  Both Salinas and the other subject fled on foot toward Homestead Avenue and Archer Street.  A perimeter was set up and an extensive yard to yard search was conducted. During the search, a citizen reported seeing Salinas running southbound on Archer Street toward Central Avenue. Officers arrested Salinas without incident in the 300 block of Central Avenue.  The second subject is still outstanding.  He was booked at Monterey County Jail for carjacking and an outstanding juvenile warrant.
