The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am – Drive Straight

The ATT Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is coming to the Monterey Bay this weekend. Large crowds will be staying throughout Monterey County enjoying the beautiful Central Coast. But along with the golf tournament comes a lot of socializing throughout the weekend that will include drinking alcohol. So if you plan on drinking this weekend, don't drive. Get a designated driver.

The Salinas Police Department and other agencies on the Monterey Peninsula will deploy additional officers on special DUI saturation patrols specifically to stop and arrest drivers showing signs of alcohol or drug impairment. If you plan on drinking this weekend, please make plans ahead of time that will prevent you from getting behind the wheel of a vehicle after drinking. Driving impaired could result in injury or death for you or others on the road. 'Everyone knows how dangerous it is to drink and drive, but a lot of people think, ‘It won't happen to me,'” said Sergeant Gerry Ross 'Don't take that chance. By making the wrong choice you could cause death or a lifetime of suffering.”

If you plan to drink, leave your keys at home. Designate a sober driver, whether it's a friend, relative, taxi, ride share or public transportation.

These operations are funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration who reminds everyone to be alert and ‘Report Drunk Drivers – Call 911' if you see a dangerous driver call immediately!
