Incident: Stabbing, Carjacking & Vehicle pursuit

Officer Responded to Cesar Chavez Park on N. Madeira regarding a stabbing that took place. When Officers arrived they contacted a 27-year-old male victim who had been stabbed in the lower torso. Victim reported while seated in his vehicle near the park he was contacted by a male, identified as Isidro Diaz (24), who approached from the park asking, 'Where you from.” When victim tried to moved away from Diaz, Diaz stabbed victim in the lower torso and then drove away with victim's vehicle.
Less than 10 minutes after police arrival, CHP spotted the victims vehicle driven/stolen by Diaz northbound on US101 at Vierra Canyon Road. When CHP attempted to stop the vehicle Diaz led CHP on a vehicle pursuit though north Monterey County and into San Benito County. Diaz finally drove off the road and into a ditch where he was caught and arrested by CHP.
Victim was treated at a local hospital and later released. Victims injuries do not appear to be life threatening. Diaz was later booked at Monterey County Jail.
