Location: 1500 block of North Main Street
A 39 year old male was traveling northbound in the 1500 block of North Main Street in his passenger car when an unidentified, approximately 50 year old White Female Adult pedestrian attempted to cross eastbound across the lanes in front of him. She was not in a crosswalk. The male was unable to avoid colliding with the pedestrian. As a result, she was launched approximately 35 feet off of the front windshield. The driver immediately stopped. Alcohol does not appear to have been involved. The pedestrian appeared deceased at the scene. Salinas Fire and AMR (American Medical Response) worked diligently to try and revive her. She was transported to Natividad Medical Center. The pedestrian had suffered significant internal and external trauma. She was pronounced deceased shortly after midnight.
