Incident: Parental Child Abduction
Report #: 16-080137
Date: Wednesday, 8/3/2016
Time: 9:24 PM
Location: 300 block of Katherine Ave.
The Salinas Police Department is asking for help in locating a child abducted by his biological mother. Yvonne Chaboya, age 41, had lost all parental rights to her children. On August 2, 2016, Chaboya went to the 300 of Katherine Ave., which is the residence of the custodial guardian of her children, and began playing with the children who were out in the front yard. Although Chaboya has no legal right to the children, it was not uncommon for her to come over to see the children. Chaboya was playing with her 6-year-old son, Richard Martinez, and ran toward the sidewalk area on Katherine Ave. Chaboya and Martinez began running westbound from the front of the house toward S. Main St. The adults watching Martinez and the other children at the residence, believed Chaboya and Martinez were playing and did not think anything suspicious until Chaboya and Martinez did not return.
Yvonne Chaboya is described as an Asian female, 4'11” tall, 125 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. She is transient and was last seen wearing a grey shirt, blue pants and no shoes. (See Attached)
Richard Martinez is described as a Hispanic/Asian male, 4'2” tall, 80 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue tank top, black shorts and black tennis shoes. (See Attached)
Although it is believed Martinez went with Chaboya willingly, Chaboya has no legal right to have custody of Martinez and he must be returned to his custodial guardian. The Salinas Police Department is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Yvonne Chaboya and Richard Martinez to call 911 or the non-emergency number (831) 758-7321. If you would like to remain anonymous, you can call the Salinas Police Department Tip Line at (831) 775-4222, or the We-Tip Line at 1-800-78 CRIME, or text information to the Text to the Text Tip Line with the code "SPD831" to "847411".
